Our Curriculum Concepts
At Tidbury Green, we believe that learning is most powerful when it is connected, meaningful, and memorable. To support this, our curriculum is built around a set of carefully chosen curriculum concepts — big ideas that help children make sense of what they are learning across different subjects and over time.
These concepts give structure to how knowledge is introduced, revisited, and deepened from Early Years through to Year 6. This helps our pupils to not only remember what they’ve learned but to understand how different ideas link together.
Our curriculum concepts are designed to:
-
Promote deep thinking and curiosity
-
Encourage connections between subjects
-
Support long-term memory through meaningful repetition
-
Support our Tidbury THINK values
By weaving these concepts into every area of learning, we aim to give children a rich and coherent education that prepares them for the next stage of their learning journey—and for life beyond school.

Subject Concept Maps & Progression Documents
Our subject concept maps and progression documents show how key concepts are carefully planned and built over time. They help ensure that learning is coherent, well-sequenced, and appropriately challenging for each year group.
These documents make clear what concepts pupils will encounter, when they will learn it, and how each stage builds on what has come before—laying strong foundations for future learning.
