British Values

At Tidbury Green, British Values are woven through everything we do. We want our children to grow into thoughtful, responsible and compassionate citizens. Across the school, staff and pupils actively promote democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance for those of all faiths and backgrounds.

Democracy

We believe every child’s voice matters. Our active School Council, with representatives from every year group, helps shape school life and decision-making. Our curriculum encourages children to express themselves confidently - developing their oracy, debating, questioning and defending their ideas with respect. Through Religious Education and wider learning, children also explore themes of fairness, justice and how peaceful change can happen in society.

Rule of Law

Our behaviour principle, 'Tidbury Rules: The Four B’s',  helps children understand what is right and how rules keep us safe and happy. Pupils learn to resolve conflicts calmly, take responsibility for their choices and show respect for others. Across subjects, including English, Religious Education and the wider curriculum, children also learn about the importance of laws in our community and the vital role of those who protect and support us.

Individual Liberty

Tidbury Green is a nurturing and inclusive school where children develop confidence and a strong sense of self. We celebrate the unique talents, strengths and interests of every child and encourage them to make positive, informed choices. Our strong anti-bullying culture and commitment to challenging stereotypes help children understand their rights and their responsibilities.

Mutual Respect and Tolerance

Through our curriculum and Religious Education, we prepare children to live and thrive in a diverse, multicultural society. Pupils learn about a wide range of faiths and cultures through music, art, dance, stories and discussion, helping them to appreciate and respect the experiences of others. We also celebrate important cultural and national events - such as the Science Week, Black History Month and Remembrance Day - to help children understand our shared heritage and values.
